Hey everyone! Charles finally made it to the field yesterday (waiting for a day and a half to get to El Peru so he could collect some habitat data for his macaw work). Logisitics and planning in such a small but busy office seem to be confusing at times!! Also, the rains have really started - every afternoon through the late night it POURS for hours with some really intense storms... so i'm shocked they can even get to their field sites with muddy soupy roads. After Charles gets back tomorrow, we're headed straight to the Belize coast - Placencia for Lobsterfest this weekend after making a stop in Succotz to check in on Lindsay and FCD.
This morning in Flores the power went out at about 5 a.m., just at the crack of dawn. So with no fan - which is the only think allowing one to sleep with any relief even with the cooler-but-still-hot rainy season temps - I went out for a walk and took some photos of sunrise around Flores. Very nice. The day was pretty lazy - I found a local coffee shop with good coffee and chilled out writing stuff down for my project in Belize. I did some laundry too on the apartment's roof where there are clotheslines and and a convenient breeze (hey - I remembered how to wash my clothes by hand!). The power finally came on this afternoon around 3 p.m. so now I'm 'really' working on my project in Belize we'll have to bust a move on when we get there. After Lobsterfest this weekend its July already and I've got 100 interviews to complete in a month. No pressure!!
