Roscoe (Tam)pico

Kristi:
Hey folks! We're in Tampico Mexico. (it's Monday May 18). Driving here took about 6 hours drive on great roads from Brownsville through Matamoros. From Matamoros, we took 101 toward Ciudad Victoria, then took the 2-lane road of Hwy 180 south through the countryside (following signs to Tampico). Not much traffic at all until we came into Tampico. For those of you following on the map, we stopped for gas and gaseosas at Soto La Marina (due west of Victoria on 180). Then south to Tampico on the coast.

We're here staying in the historic district in Tampico. We need secure parking so we're 'forced' to stay in posh hotels (heh heh). We're on the 4th floor in this plaza hotel near the cathedral/plaza. After dinner (mariscos y cervezas!) we took a taxi back to the cathedral plaza and watched a pretty cool break dancing performance. Tomorrow we're off the Veracruz or Manatitlan (depending on when we get up). We're having a great time - it's Day 1 and already our attitudes are changing with latitudes (we passed the tropic of cancer earlier today!)
